An investment bank opens a blog
Think Equity Partners, an investment bank based in San Francisco and which specializes in technology and health care, is using a blog, aptly named ThinkBlog, to build a dialog with the financial community.
This was announced last week by the New York Times in “Bank hopes its blog helps find next big thing” (article freely available through the International Herald Tribune).
Here is a link to the press release from Think Equity Partners (February 17, 2005) announcing the official launch of this blog which started — with a limited audience — at the end of May 2004.
Now, this bank is more ambitious with this blog, as notes its CEO, Michael Moe, who compares this idea with the way how the Zagat guides ask regular diners to comment about restaurants.
“There are all sorts of information sources about where a restaurant is located and what the cuisine is, but that’s just information,” Moe said. “What makes Zagat’s powerful is you have 100,000 people contributing. Their insight is amazing.”
What do you think of this initiative? Do you know other banks in France or elsewhere in Europe which are using blogs?
